$99 IPad – The Toughest Enemy Gaming Consoles Have Ever Seen
The iPad is recognized and accepted as a great gaming device with medium specifications, but the replacement of clasic gaming consoles was never thought to be achieved. It isn’t sure that Apple wanted to reach “classic” gaming, such as Nintendo and PlayStation consoles by the launch of the iPad.
One of the main reasons behind the statistic that consoles are losing more and more market terrain is one of financial motivation: both hardware and software, console games are more expensive that any programmed applications for iPhone and IOS in general because this programming was considered even before the iPad was conceived. Apple had this monopole of cheap apps in mind by using the experience behind the iPhone.

John Ricciiello, CEO at Electronic Arts, declared officially that until the year 2000, “consoles were a large 80% of world’s gaming industry but nowadays they have dropped to a near 40% due to complex market shifting. What is the real Nintendo competitor? Nintendo has a whole new hardware platform and software updates and apps are launched every 90 days but still the fastest platform is the iPad even if it didn’t existed 18 months ago.”
A statement that shocked many people came from Ricciello in which he was admitting the fact that Apple has a big and aggressive point of view to add in the gaming industry. Nintendo has appointed Apple as the “future enemy” a long time ago and 3DS price dropped from $ 249 to $ 169 when the iPhone and iPad were released just so Nintendo could keep up.

On the IOS platform the price to become a developer is only $ 99 and that means many programmers went to IOS to make a fortune and they did. The real success behind this are low-cost games and even free games that are distributed, and the ease with which they are distributed through the App Store through the Internet is unprecedented in all modern history. Not even online porn industry didn’t see this boom of distribution. Even expensive apps are bought every day all around the world. Another fierce competitor for the gaming consoles will soon be Google, with the future launch of Google TV, which will run on Android software platform and provide a whole new experience to any user.
If you still think that a device with no hardware button can turn upside down the market for many product categories think again. The iPad is a fierce competitor
