HP Slate vs iPad. Yes, it’s another fight that the Apple Company created when the iPad was released. The HP Slate is a Microsoft Tablet launched on October, 2010. It is a little bit smaller than the iPad and we can say that its operating system (Windows 7) wasn’t really built for a touschscreen device.

When we are talking about tablets, then we know that the screen is the most important part. The tablet is only a screen with a case around it. The iPad’s display has a higher resolution than the Slate does: 9.7 inch and 1024 x 768. The HP Slate’s display has an 8.9 inch and 1024 x 600 display. It is clear that none of these devices has a keyboard, but you can buy an external one anytime you want. The Slate has a USB port for this, but the iPad has to use Bluetooth for the external keyboard. But this is only necessary if you can’t get use to the on-screen keyboard.

HP Slate Vs iPad from geekyheart.com

For the business users, there are some Microsoft Office suites available for the iPad and this allows the user to work with PowerPoint, Word and Excel files (this will cost around $30). Of course that the Slate users have the option of getting Microsoft Office, but you should keep in mind that this software isn’t bundled with HP’s device and that means that you will be out at lead $100.

When on a trip, some people may like to read book. Why carry three or four books, when you can get a tablet with you? Then you should use a tablet, and the iPad is a better option than a book. You can bring as many books as you want with you and you can easily buy more in a few minutes.

So what can HP Slate do? Well, it has a digitizer (is supports a Pen) and it can run third party applications. Also, there are HP models with 32 GB and 64 GB, but the good part is that the memory can be upgraded with an SD card Reader. Another plus added to the list is that Slate comes with a VGA WebCam and an MP3 Camera, also it has a microphone and headphones jack and a USB port.

The iPad’s advantage is that is has a better price ($499) than the HP Slate ($549). Also it can provide a 802.11a/b/g/n connectivity, when Slate can provide a 802.11b/g connectivity. Slate comes with a digitizer, but the iPad has a fingerprint resistant screen.

HP Slate vs iPad from t3chh3lp.com

The big difference between these two tablets is that the HP Slate can support Adobe Flash and Air. But is Adobe the only thing standing between these two devices? Of course not, don’t forget that HP Slate has Windows 7 as an operating system and it sown UI. Yes, this was made for a keyboard, but Hp us promising that will optimize its UI so that is can support finger print navigation.

The conclusion is that both tablets have their specific target audience. But in this HP Slate vs iPad battle the question still remains: can Microsoft deliver a better tablet than Apple can? One thing is for sure: there is a war out there, a tablet war. Maybe in the future there will be even more competitors on the market and they will make this fight a bigger one.
